Individual and Group Counselling

Therapy occurs mainly in small groups, with individual counselling arranged as required.

Addiction is often a chronic and relapsing condition, so continuing care is a vital factor in the long-term success of recovery. Clients/whai ora are encouraged to attend continuing care for at least two years or 12-Step meetings. Research shows these offer the best recovery outcomes.

Education and Training

Sessions address the medical, social, and behavioural aspects of alcohol and drug dependency. The impact of addiction on the lives of clients/whai ora and their families/whānau is discussed and understood.

Family and Whānau

Hanmer Clinic recognises that addiction profoundly affects families, whānau, and significant others. We adopt a person-centered and whānau-centred approach to care. We focus on client/whai ora needs and goals and encourage input from whānau.
